A Real Estate Career is not for the faint of hearts; it is a Challenging Pursuit, and one of the Major Obstacles to Achieving Success is “Negotiating Against Ourselves.” While most Real Estate Agents understand the importance of keeping their promises with their clients, they often struggle to Keep their Promises to themselves. This insidious absence of Self-Integrity in some, can have serious consequences and has derailed the Careers of Many.

When we Fail to keep our promises to Ourselves, our minds Negotiate againstOur Will,” and Excuses begin to take over. Our intentions start to wane, and we find ourselves unable to take the Necessary Actions to move forward. This is why it's vital to develop a strong sense of Self-Integrity and Commit to following through on the Promises we make to Ourselves.

One of the biggest challenges that Real Estate Agents face is the Fear of Rejection. Many Agents know what they Need To Do to become Successful Listing Agents, but they often find themselves looking for Alternatives to avoid confronting their fear. We know where the Homeowners actually live - yet we fail to Call them, Door-Knock them, or even Mail them. This can lead to a lack of action and ultimately, a failure to Get Listings.

To overcome this challenge, it's important to Take Action regardless of how we feel. The best actions are those that we take even when we don't feel like it. By infusing the philosophy of "Just Doing - No Over-Thinking" during part of our day, we can fulfill the Promised Goals we make to our Higher Selves and Achieve Success. It is important to remember that sometimes we may feel like taking action, and sometimes we won't. But by committing to Taking Action regardless of our feelings, we can Overcome our Fears and Achieve our goals.

By Adopting a Success Mindset and Committing to a course of action, you can Negotiate for Yourself to achieve your goals and build a Successful Career.

Develop a Gratitude Mindset and Let Abundance Guide You

Real Estate Professionals are the type of Entrepreneurs whose business are “People;” many think they are in the Business of Houses, and they would be a tad off… a Gratitude Mindset goes a long way in building rich engagements on our communities; let’s find out what it means to develop a “Gratitude Mindset…”

Gratitude plays a big role in the life of Entrepreneurs and especially in Real Estate Professionals; your business is a “people business” and you cannot succeed by yourself sitting on island. You are connected to the Community, to your neighbors, and to all the people thinking about Moving, Selling, and/or Buying nearby. You are in the business of People Not Houses and therefore developing a Gratitude Mindset goes a long way to connecting you authentically locally. 

What is Gratitude? The dictionary says: The state of being grateful. And Grateful is defined as: Appreciative of benefits received. So, what is a Gratitude Mindset? It is the state of living your life valuing the possessions you have, as well as the Achievements you have accomplished -- but it goes further than that; it is living your life noticing “The Good” that surrounds you and celebrating it regardless of you instigating or not.

Do not think it is easy to develop a Gratitude Mindset; especially when you are surrounded with “News” which really means terrible news about the world; and surrounded with some people who only see the horrible and terrible and have no time to celebrate the good. They look at you as being an Alien who does not understand what is truly going on in the world. When you say: “I am Grateful that the Plane is already at the gate and that the boarding process got all of us on the plane on time.” The naysayers would say: “Why are you grateful for this? That was their job in the first place; that’s what should have happened.” I choose to see boarding a plane as an act of Gratitude because it gets me to be with the people I am going to visit and work with. 

A “Gratitude Mindset” is choosing to Live Life with a Commitment to Noticing “The Good” all around us and Celebrating it!

How does a Gratitude Mindset manifest itself in one’s daily life? This is the beauty of this mindset; you get to choose. I say start by noticing those around you and catching them doing something Right. One of the things I do is to randomly call my friends on Social Media and chat about their life and what they are up to. When you give a friend a chance to articulate what is important in their life, they become more passionate about it; so simply listening to their dreams and validating their journey is an act of Gratitude.  

Another way to nurture a Gratitude Mindset is to bring to the fore this hard question: “What difficulties and/or upsets have I caused in others?” This is Not an easy question to confront; but an important one. It will keep you grounded on your intention of being an Agent of the Good; and help you rectify any unintentional harm you may have triggered.  

This is not an easy journey to embark on, and some will ridicule your commitment to have Gratitude flowering in your heart, but the journey is so worthwhile. You will ease your Stress; You will become more approachable; You will experience more Joy and become an instigator of Joy in the life of others; and you will get back more, even though you are not looking for any rewards. Let me end with this quote by Melody Beattie: “Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.”

Week 1 of the Fall 2023 #10WeekTraining Program starts this week with a Live Session Wednesday September 6th at 11am EST. The theme of this 3-Month Real Estate Strategy Program is: “Ignite Your Sales Potential.” The Program was designed to strengthen our Brokers and Agents Sales;  Listing Inventory; and Closing Deals. The main areas of Skills Development during the next 3 months are: Quarterly Strategic Planning; Prospecting Expired Listings; Canvassing with Market Reports; Handling FSBOs; Holding Proper Buyers’ Consultations; Listings Presentation Skills; Farming with Postcards and mailers; and more… Developing a Go-Getter Mindset requires Great Coaching to build Confidence; Effective Sales Scripts; Planned Approaches; and fostering a Culture of Accountability. #RealEstateProduction #SalesSkills #SuccessMindset   

As the name of the Program suggests there are 10 Sessions, 5 of which occur every other week, and are Live. Live Sessions help agents retain more and implement faster what they have just learned. Since these Live Sessions occur in the office, via Zoom, and are about 1h15mn long - it creates an opportunity for the Broker to hold Sales Meetings prior or after to discuss what was just learned; but more importantly, implementing the Strategies just learned.

Let me share an example: One of the Classes we will cover deals with Expired Listings and the Proper Approach to get an Appointment. During that class the Real Estate Professionals are given Strategies and more importantly Scripts that they will modify to fit their Style to approach Sellers with Expired Listings. After said Class, the Broker will then share their experience and enhance what was learned; then pair up the agents to practice their Scripts on each other.

As an industry we are not empowering our Agents to develop the Mindset of putting together Scripts of Engagement and that is why many of them are not Prospecting. They do not wish to look foolish, so they avoid it altogether. Smart Brokers create an environment of Accountability and Safety, so Practicing and making mistakes in the Office is encouraged – which then leads our agents to pick the phone more often, or to go canvassing more than the competition.

The other 5 Weeks are Training Sessions that the Participating Agents do on their own; then reach out to an Accountability Partner and practice what they have just learned. Each Agent is encouraged to pick from the 50 to 100 agents in each program a Success Partner; Each Participant is asked to take the Weekly Scripts, modify them to their style, practice them, then record themselves, and finally place them is a Private Hidden Group – this way the participants learn from each other and develop their Confidence. It is all about reducing the Fear of Rejection.
